A simple way of checking if you are living your life to the fullest can be answering the questions – Are you growing each day? Are you making the most of your unique potential?
If your answer is “Yes” you can stop here. If your answer is “No” or “I don’t know” and you are ok with it, you can stop here. And, if you wish to convert the answers to “Yes” read on…
Living your life to the fullest can be a fun process if you allow it. It may take bit of hard work initially to ascertain and work on what is stopping you from feeling full and complete, but it’s within you – waiting to be discovered! It’s often the habit of settling for something more comfortable than fulfilling that stops us from experiencing the joy of life.
Enjoyment is not only for children and retirees. All stages of life can be meaningful and exciting – the bigger question is do you want it? Or do you feel comfortable in settling for something less than your true capability?
Life begins at the end of your comfort zone - Neale Donald Walsch, author of the series Conversations with God
Opening your mind beyond your comfort zone will allow you to discover hidden potential. It will allow you to face your fears. New experiences will help you build flexibility required to deal with the unexpected challenges that life throws at you.
Some of you by now are thinking – it’s easier said than done, I like having a stable routine, why should I disturb it? I hear your concerns and let me tell you that comfort zone and routine are two different things. You can continue with your same routine and be outside your comfort zone but experience joy. HOW? When you decide to maximize your potential you may still end up having an office meeting at 10:00 am everyday but the outcome of the meeting will be different – From simply attending a meeting you can now go on to making significant contributions to the office meeting and start winning at workplace. Now that sounds cool, doesn’t it?
Living life to the fullest calls for steering life in the direction that you want. It means making effective changes in those areas of life that are currently not going as per your wish. It requires you to take an active role in your development.
From where to start is often the first question that comes to one’s mind – and it’s a valid one!
Let’s do a simple exercise together. Simply follow the diagram at the top. How does your life - SPHERE look like? Rate yourself on a scale of 1-10 with 10 reflecting maximum satisfaction in that particular area
Once you have given your score based on your current feelings; below it simply write the ideal score that you wish to have in that area of life.
To balance the SPHERE and experience fulfillment, the area which has the maximum difference between your current and ideal score should ideally be the one you try to fix first! List down 3 things you can start doing to eliminate that difference and get going today.
Excited and Scared at same time???
It is completely ok to feel overwhelmed about making changes. Hesitation towards making a change comes naturally to all of us. What we probably need to realize is that this resistance can be overcome by looking at things from a different perspective – through the eyes of a Life Coach. A life coach is someone who you can partner with to make these changes happen as he/she will help you bridge the gap between where you are where you want to be.
Something which doesn’t seem right for a long time, calls for a change, and a coach is the right person to help you make that change happen.
You can live your life to the fullest – the choice is yours!
